Jay Carpet One & Furniture Co. has a family history spanning more than eight decades. Our story began in 1942, when Byron Rosenbloom founded Jay Furniture Company in Athens, Pennsylvania, committed to helping customers create comfortable, welcoming homes.
In 1967, Byron's son, Dave Rosenbloom, expanded the family business by opening Jay Carpet Center, Inc., across the street from the original furniture store. This marked an important step in bringing flooring and home furnishings together under the family's leadership.
Our company's growth reflects decades of hard work, resilience, and dedication to customers throughout the Southern Tier and Northern Pennsylvania.
Family has always been central to our business. Over the years, multiple members of the Rosenbloom family have contributed to its success, including Adelaide, Laura, Jill, Dave, and Jay.
Today, our Horseheads showroom continues the tradition of personalized service, knowledgeable guidance, and lasting customer relationships established by the generations before us.

Homes in Horseheads and the surrounding Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions experience cold winters, seasonal snow, spring rain, and changing indoor humidity.
These conditions can influence flooring comfort, maintenance, and product selection. Our local flooring specialists can help you evaluate materials based on your home's needs.
Carpet and appropriate padding provide softness and thermal comfort, making them appealing for bedrooms, family rooms, and other living spaces during cold New York winters.
Selected luxury vinyl products offer waterproof or water-resistant features that may be practical for areas exposed to everyday spills and tracked-in moisture.
Even with waterproof flooring, spills and standing water should be addressed promptly, and installation conditions must meet manufacturer requirements.
Ceramic and porcelain tile can provide durable, easy-to-maintain surfaces for suitable spaces where moisture and dirt are common concerns.
Hardwood flooring can be a beautiful choice for Northeast homes, but seasonal humidity changes may affect wood movement. Appropriate acclimation, installation, and indoor climate control help support performance.
